E89 3.0 battery charge level

Post by Dannheisser » Tue Feb 27, 2024 3:37 pm

Happen to run bimmerlink and it shows my battery charge at 39%.

I assume that's too low? Dies that indicate the battery is bad?
Thanks

Battery should always be above 50% but probably below 85%

How old is the battery?

Needs charging…don’t leave it at that level …buy a decent float / trickle charger ..Lidl does one for about £15..ctek are very good but v expensive

Yes it's strange to see low(er) charge status. Same with my cars battery, not that low.
Foxwell reader gives % time it's at different %age.
You would think it would be high most of the time, but on battery replacement i registered it, but there was never any feedback from Foxwell that it had happened.
I began to think it might think it still has the old battery.

As the battery ages, the vehicle electornics know to increase the charge rate to try to eke out whatever performance it can get from the battery.

You register it to restart that process - as the new battery doesn;t need as high a charge rate.

Failing to register a new battery results in high charge currents that are damaging to a healthy battery - can cause premature failure in weird ways.
