Red (or other coloured) Start/Stop button

Post by omegabri » Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:55 am

Hi
I've been pondering, but not entirely sure I have the guts to try....... Has anyone swapped out their OM Start/Stop button, for a more sporty coloured one? Either red, or blue I guess as well.

My question: How did you get the OM one out? I've seen people on YouTube yanking them up with what looks like super sticky tac stuff, but not sure I have the guts to try.....although, I'd love to fit a red replacement button πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‰

Cheers all
Bri

did it on my old BMW - never again as you end up dinting the surrounding plastic no matter how careful you are. The sticky gum didn't really work well. The red button looked great, but the dents on the trim didn't.

I thought that... I like the car too much to damage anything.

I ordered a glass one from AliExpress it came with a sticky gum to remove the original button, totally cover the button with the gum and pull straight up and it just popped off.

Did you have to pull it hard? I'd hate to think that the original button would snap its retaining clips, and fall into the button below. That'd be just my luck 🀦🀣🀣

No just a quick, pull straight up and it just pops off , and can be refitted any time.

Same as above, zero drama.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

I did it with the Red button from IND. Same as above. Sticky putty worked fine, and no dents whatsoever.

Successful easy fitting (and I didn't accidentally rip the whole centre console up, with the sticky tacky stuff....🀦🀣)

Looks ace, and I'm sure it's even added an additional 10 bhp !! 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣
