Show me your (52mm) gauge mounts
Some good suggestions here, but sadly neither of those quite nail it for me.
I'm interested in a slightly neater solution in the A-pillar, but I've no way to make this myself to a standard that would make me happy. I'm actually surprised that not even a LHD pod exists.

If you're dead-set on an A-pillar mount this one might do the trick?
Alternatively, I thought maybe if you can somehow get the below one fitted to the underside of the glovebox that could be a fairly tidy solution?

Not really dead-set on anything, but I'm struggling for options. The A-pillar feels like the obvious place, but I'm not about to bodge something in there that looks rubbish.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:53 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162577437174 ... XTEALw_wcB

Was watching an M569 restorations video earlier and saw this on his project cologne e46 track project (https://youtu.be/FzIDIqXD0AE?si=ijUckK4kIjtDaxYQ)
I bet you'd be able to get them to 3d print an e85/6 air vent mount for it...

If you're keen then stick my name down for one of it helps a group buy or one off run

Sadly they are obd only again, so no oil pressure and temperature on the M54.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 5:26 pm Was watching an M569 restorations video earlier and saw this on his project cologne e46 track project (https://youtu.be/FzIDIqXD0AE?si=ijUckK4kIjtDaxYQ)

I'm confused - the e46 in the video by m539 restorations is an m54, and it works fine? The m54 (like the s54 annoyingly) doesn't have an oil pressure gauge but you can easily retrofit one and then that gauge works just fine? Unless I'm missing something!DaveP wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 12:19 pmSadly they are obd only again, so no oil pressure and temperature on the M54.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 5:26 pm Was watching an M569 restorations video earlier and saw this on his project cologne e46 track project (https://youtu.be/FzIDIqXD0AE?si=ijUckK4kIjtDaxYQ)

That's sort of my point. Oil pressure is the priority for me, so if I'm fitting an extra gauge anyway to get that, I may as well get something like the below which is a lot clearer and has configurable alarms.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 7:28 pmI'm confused - the e46 in the video by m539 restorations is an m54, and it works fine? Either way, I don't think you can get oil pressure or temperature from the OBD on an M54 engine. The OEM pressure sensor is just a low pressure switch that activates the light on the dash, and temp isn't sent to OBD.
Edit - watched the video back to jog my memory. He installed the pressure sensor, but seems to get oil temp via the OBD. I can't seem to find it on any of my OBD tools, so I'll need to look harder.

I finally did some reading on the P3 gauge, and it looks like it's possible to add in an oil pressure reading via an electrical sender. This is promising.
This would mean I could drop that gauge in and install the pressure sensor on the Vanos banjo. Just need to find a way to configure it...

Dude watch the m539 resto video (https://youtu.be/FzIDIqXD0AE?si=LzmlXfHnCa2O1Kca) . You need an oil pressure sensor (the standard sensor is just a low pressure switch, not an actual pressure sensor). You don't need a new gauge to get oil pressure info - the gauge.s gauge will show pressure. Ditto temperature, but you shouldn't need to install a sensor, it should read from the oe sensor.DaveP wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:09 pm I finally did some reading on the P3 gauge, and it looks like it's possible to add in an oil pressure reading via an electrical sender. These were from Japan's legendary BMW tuner 3d design. I was one of very few at the time that invested in these as I wanted an OEM looking solution , specifically designed for the car. They were discontinued a few years later even back then around a decade ago it cost me 400 quid which was frankly insane!.
They were designed to work with stack gauges , which i went with the stack pro-stepp datalog range. with boost, oil pressure and AFR in the middle.

I'm sure they work for you, but they seem like a terrible solution if you're planning to drive the car in sunlight or with the roof off.Beedub wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:06 pm These were from Japan's legendary BMW tuner 3d design.
