New discs… brembo or pagid?

Post by jackboy » Sun Mar 24, 2024 9:55 pm

What’s the current thinking on discs? I have an E85 3.0 Z4. Any preference on brembo vs pagid? Thinking of trying textar pads for lower dust maybe…?

Thanks

Cannot make any comparison for you but I have done several standard replacements using Brembo pads and discs and have no issues at all with them
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

As above, not done a back to back test of any sort but general accepted knowledge is that discs are just discs in most cases if used on the road. Don't buy the cheapest ones, but get something branded. If you are going to spend money on something to make you stop spend it on tyres and pads.

New discs… brembo or pagid?

Howdy All, I'm hoping to supplant my standard OEM brake plates and cushions front and back. Euro vehicle parts offer both Brembo and Pagid plates and cushions for the standard OEM sizes (294mm OD front, 290mm OD back). Does anybody have any involvement in both of these, and whether one is better compared to the next? I ought to likewise say that I don't follow my vehicle and use as an everyday driver.

I'm told that the Brembo stuff sold by ECP is made specially for them to a very strict budget. I'd go with whichever is cheapest.

A number of members picked up Pagid discs from Halfords a while ago when they had a “too good to miss” discount, or perhaps a pricing error, myself included. I put the Pagids (325mm) on over the winter as part of a full brakes/suspension overhaul and they’ve been great.
I still have the OEM discs on a for sale thread somewhere.

Zimmerman from AutoDoc. Textar make the Genuine pads so you won’t go wrong. Been using Zimmerman for years. Excellent quality.

Hey, check out ZIMMERMANN Brake disc in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.co.uk/zimmermann/1738730
