Sonar 2xcite headlight motor

Post by Gollom122 » Fri Apr 15, 2022 10:17 pm

I have what I fear is an MOT failure coming about on Tuesday. Hoping that I may be able to fix this beforehand.
My car has 2excite headlights. One of the projector lamps does not move. I’ve removed the light cluster from the car and took a look and can see that the motor ball joint is not engaged in the slider. However I cannot see how to get to the motor without completely disassembling and going in from the front.
Anyone got any ideas? TIA

Paid the mot test centre to adjust the beam after they failed it. I’m not sure they got it done properly or just took the money.
There are two adjustments vertical and horizontal. They look like bolt heads (hex) accessed through the panel in the arch liner.

So you couldn't get the motor working again?

I couldn’t find a way to pop the socket back into the actuator. I’m guessing the self levelling didn’t need to work for mot so long as the beam was correct, or they adjusted it to get the ball back into the socket and then pulled it back to the correct beam. I’ve since sold the car.
