Something to polish over the weekends :)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116016616403 ... media=COPY

Seems sad to see this in many ways :(

Still can't believe it ever existed. I remember in the 80s I went with my mum and dad and brother to Coventry airshow. It was a boiling hot summers day and we stood 3/4 down the runway. Concorde appeared and did a few flybys and then did a touch and go and put full thrust on with afterburners just where we were standing, will never forget the experience. The noise and sheer power. We got covered in a light dusting of soot and oil and my mum stormed off as she had soot all over her dress and went back and sat in the car for the rest of the afternoon

So sad it will never be seen in the sky again.

My late Godmother worked as P/A and secretary to the BA Concorde pilots at Heathrow for 35 years.
She absolutely loved the aeroplane and had so much memorabilia on display in her house (not a RR engine though).
She also got to fly in the planes on many occasions, something normal 'mere mortals' rarely got the chance to do.

She sadly died in 2022.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

I was saving up to fly on Concorde, it was always a dream and then the Air France plane crashed and that was it :(

Yes, such a sad ending for an iconic aeroplane.

I still regret not shelling out for one of the last flights, but I did fly into Heathrow the day they stopped flying and saw about 5 of them lined up. It was an awesome sight!

You should buy it, do it up and sell for a profit. Would look good on your driveway!

Curious in the Ebay listing which says "BA restriction of use, it must only be used for static display"

So what would happen if you managed to get it running as a static display?

Coincidentally I visited the Bristol Aerospace Museum today where Concorde is on display. The museum is well worth a visit if only to take the opportunity to see the flight deck and walk through the passenger area.

Lovely.

I've sort of been on two, but only on the ground!

I went to Duxford years ago, but theirs is a prototype with no interior. Then a few years ago I went on the one at Brooklands for the simulated flight experience and that just made me regret not flying on one more. :(

Funnily enough I was watching a video on YouTube earlier of the Simulator at Brooklands where Pilot Mike Bannister was testing it. Apparently they need someone who actually knows how to fly it so to speak to ensure everything on the simulator works.

Great pic, will have to make a visit there. I've never actually been up close or been on Concorde so would be good to see :)

They've been trying to sell it for quite a few years now. It might be worth that money if it had the right paperwork with it but to be made into furniture - not a chance.
To be honest even if it did have its paperwork (the BA restriction of use would mean they have destroyed all the paperwork it needs to be airworthy) its no use as an airworthy engine as there are no aircraft flying that could use that kind of engine.
