Forgive me for still trying to get up to speed with BMW and E86s in particular... what's wrong with copies? Are non-genuine ones pretty bad?

Badges are like wheel refurbishment... on my long list, right at the bottom!

You can’t buy a aftermarket bonnet badge for the Z4. It’s an odd size. And BMW charge £45 for this pleasure.

Are the aftermarket's for other places on the car decent enough? Pretty sure all for of the badges on my car are past their best.

I think the generic ones are eBay are ok but degrade fairly quickly. So you save money buying them but could be a false economy if you have to replace them 3x quicker than genuine items.

I bought one for the boot and the blue was off and did not fit really well either. I got an OEM one, fitted perfectly and the colours as expected.

I would only go aftermarket for wheel centres as the BMW ones tend to rot the same as copies.

Funnily enough my wheels are currently Veemax with Veemax centres... but the seller included a pack of brand new BMW centres (probably non OEM but not checked). Wheel centres are one thing I definitely don't need right now.

As said, unfortunately OEM bonnet badges (and boot badges on some models) are the only ones that fit properly. For some reason the copies never have quite the right shape to them. £45 for a bit of plastic is a complete rip-off, though!

EBAy centre caps are great, though. Cheap as chips and last well IME.

And they are 68mm.
Chop off the lugs and get a bit creative with the 'No More Nails' and for the sake of 2mm there you have a front bumper badge.

Because it's NOT ON THE BONNET!!!! :D

The Chinese copies are ok, have fitted Black ones to my Z4 but they do degrade over time same for the wheel centre badges. Got a spare set in the garage for when they get too bad. My sets cost me £10 each from an old fashioned ironmongers shop that I happened upon at the Brecon Car Show here in Wales. Same sets are on ebay as well as the vinyl sticker sets.
