Love the wheel color! And yes, that does sound very scary. Had the remnants of my pads going more and more metal-metal at Laguna Seca, I noticed that braking performance going into T1 (at ~110 mph) from one lap to the next was diminishing, which was very unnerving. Brake issues in general are scary!Ed Doe wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 1:37 pm Not so much today, but I got an evening slot at Donny last night.
The car performed (almost) faultlessly - until I boiled the brake fluid near the end of the evening - pedal went almost to the floor and took a few pumps to get the car stopped - bit scary when approaching Mclean's at something well north of 100mph!!! Brake fluid change now on the never ending list before the Ring trip in 2 weeks!
Trackday photography isn't done yet so you'll have to make do with my 'before' and 'after' photos!

Oooh and side note, no issues whatsoever with noise limits with the supersprint X-pipe & Race cans

Home is in Sydney at the moment, so a ‘ring trip would have to be squeezed into a European holiday, which makes it even less likely I’d be given permission I still have my RS4 in the UK though, and it would be interesting to drive it on a track. It was phenomenal cross country on broken roads in Devon, and would have left my uncompliant Zed for dead in that environment. I’ll be sure to let you know if I’m heading to any tracks when we’re next back.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 8:08 amIf you do get a 'ring date in the diary let me know - if I can manage to get out there too I certainly willBMWZ4MC wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 12:16 am Both will be great fun. I’ve still not made it to the ring, but I’d love to drive it one day.
No track days for me for the foreseeable future - work is busy and two kids of one and three and a half years keep me busy at home too.
Hopefully, towards the end of the year I’ll have more time. For now, I’m taking the scenic route home as often as possible
Yeah my son is 3 1/2 too now, and we've got a second child on the way (not sure if boy or girl yet - due October), so I'm getting the trackdays in this year, as I'm pretty sure I'll be limited to taking the scenic route home too next year!
Good luck for October, it’s more than twice as hectic when the second one arrives!
ETA good to see you survived Donnington unscathed. That’s happened to me too, also at well over 100mph. I didn’t manage to slow down enough to take the corner, but fortunately there was plenty of run off. It’s certainly wakes you up when the brake pedal offers no resistance!

A few spots of kurust on chips.
Refixed the drivers side door cill cover to the door cill - it has been sat down the side of the drivers seat since purchase a month or so back.
Half put the front bumper back on, before spotting that the near side headlights wasn't sat right, took it off, sorted the light and refixed the front bumper. Looking forward to driving her again, after pretty much 3 weeks of occasional use then 2 weeks off the road in the 5 weeks since I bought her!
Gave the alloys a quick clean for the first time since purchase... I actually know what colour they are now! The graphite grey does look good with the black car... but then again I kinda miss the character and colour the dust gave it and it's making me lean more towards bronze or gold!

The first post has two photos - the car as it was advertised on here in 2021, and again as advertised in 2024. My purchase was influenced by how good it appeared to have been 3 years and the belief that with reasonable maintenance since it couldn't be too bad even though I knew it had faults and was rough around the edges.
I haven't done a good job taking photos and she's not had a proper clean either let alone anything more. I will post more soon on my new member thread.

Also.. just looked up your car... lovely, classier wheels and much nicer condition (and probably lower mileage) compared to mine. But not too dissimilar.
I will post photos of the fog lights in the next day or two... turned out alright I think, so much better than before, but I'd do a better and quicker job if I did it again.

Started work on my second 108 rim. On the first one, I laboriously stripped the rim with a paint stripper. With this rim, I had it sand or probably shot-blasted. Unfortunately, the finish left a lot to be desired, more potholes than my local road! Four coats of filler primer and smoothing and now ready to paint.

Having replaced the rear shocks on the Mrs E89 in the last week or so, and previously correcting the Bonnet, roof and boot lid, I turned my attention to both sides today. Doors, rear wings, front wing panels and side skirts all corrected… happy with the results and clarity;
