Alarm / boot

Post by smorris_12 » Thu May 02, 2024 7:59 pm

Quiz question du jour:

If the car is locked and I open the boot with the key, should the alarm go off? As it stands, it doesn't.

I'm mostly asking as I've got an error code for:

"67 Anti theft alarm system: interior protection rear"

which I can't find any details for. The volumetric alarm seems to work as I have set that off when it's locked and the roof's down and I lob my shopping in.

Any pearls of wisdom?

No it shouldn’t go off. Otherwise the boot open button on the key fob would be pointless
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Alarm / boot

Post by GreySquirrel » Thu May 02, 2024 8:46 pm

My alarm DOES go off if I open it with the actual key when the car is locked, but not if I open it with the boot button on the key. I thought that was normal behaviour.
Stereo off, straight six is all the music I need!

Alarm / boot

Mine is programmed to only open the boot on the button when the car is unlocked to avoid you shutting the key in the boot. From my E46, where that option isn't set, unlocking the boot on the fob button temporarily deactivates the alarm (and flashes the clown nose quickly.)

From Grey's comment it looks like my error is boot related and my alarm ought to go off when I mechanically open it. Which makes sense really. It would also keep me from any chance of shutting the key in the boot!
