E86 blue tooth connection

Post by Watson1911 » Fri May 03, 2024 9:12 am

Hi all,

Ive read various old topics but could do with some clarity please.

I have the Business CD, I don't have the 6CD changer (could have had originally but doesn't now).

I have connected my i-phone to the OE bluetooth installation for making and receiving calls and this works ok.

I want to add a bluetooth option for streaming music, I dont want to install something that will impact the above.

Will the following do the job? If I am connected via bluetooth to the music streaming device - will the bluetooth connection to the car still work for calls?

As long as you have the headunit without the pop up screen, yes this should work.

Do a quick search on here, lots of installs etc. a very common method for us E85/86 owners.

E86 blue tooth connection

Yes I’ve seen lots of other threads but I get a bit lost with the technical nature of some of them.

This seems to be the easiest and simplest solution. I just could do with knowing;

A) will it drain my battery / still pull power when car burning use
B) will the existing Bluetooth phone connection work? I don’t have the sat nav installed

Thanks

I plugged one in the back of my head unit - battery seems fine
Not sure on the existing blue tooth phone connection - I just use my phone through this as well, its fairly good

Just dug back through ebay and the one I bought is no longer listed. I think the majority of them work, there are many that come with a mic.

When installing, I checked it all worked before putting the radio and vents back as the vents can be a bit of a bugger to remove.
