Re tapped the offending ABS junction

Success- it’s gone back in straight!

I’ll bleed it tomorrow and check it’s all up to pressure

Monday update!

The electrical issues have another thread- plugging away (no pun intended)- the next thing to do is change the fuse/distribution board to discount a dodgy relay thats soldered

The brakes are back on however I think there is a problem with the master cylinder- pedal isn't as tight as it should be

It had a good wash... just to get it cleaner than it was, and its starting to look good- I've a real soft spot for it!

Last few jobs on the list are to service it properly including valve cover gasket...

Here is a pic to keep you all interested!

Thought I’d better get it ready for its pseudo MOT on Tuesday.

Last thing to do is bleed the brakes to see if we can sort the soft pedal issue tomorrow

Today:

New valve cover gasket. When I did this on the silver top I bought both types of gasket by mistake. The black top is a rubber one similar to the M54 engine and the silver top is more thin and metalled.

Obviously I’d bought the wrong one so it was great to remember I had a spare correct one in the parts bin!

The old gasket was very brittle and in poor condition. The sparks were awful- worst I’ve seen. Replaced the oil filter and changed the oil.

Gearbox oil was like old tea- needed doing as did the diff oil.

Adjusted the handbrake… the list is very small now!

Fingers crossed we can sort the brakes!

Good job Stuart . Got mine ready today for MOT on Monday afternoon today and noticed left side headlight adjuster step motor not working . Took motor out and it was working fine . Put it back in and worked first time then stopped . Took motor out again and got better half to switch headlights on and off and motor worked some times but not not others . Tried lubricating it but no joy . Too late in afternoon to get hold of another motor so will have to ring MOT place Monday morning and see what they say as I think it will be an instant fail :headbang:

Hi Stuart
What ET and widths are the CSL reps you have and what size tyres?
They look like they fit spot on so would like to compare to mine.
Cheers

Ah cr4p

Well I should have listened to the little voice in my head

First off the garage (who shall remain nameless) didn’t do anything yesterday and I only found that out when I called for an update.

Car stuck on the ramp my ar53

Two hours of diagnostics this morning to be told ‘yeah it’s probably a wire break somewhere mate- can’t do much more than that’

I blame myself- I thought that a specialist would be able to plug in much more advanced tools than mine and pinpoint the issue

But no- I now need to put the big boy pants on, get TIS open and a good electrical tester and go back to 101 basics or tracing a fault.

Every day is a school day even at 49

Onward

If I was closer I would pop over, first thing I would do is disconnect that drivers seats and connect it up to a battery. If it works as it should on a battery then I would say the short is before a switch you use to operate something (roof, wipers etc...)
