CD changer fitting

Post by matth » Fri Jul 10, 2009 1:54 pm

Hi can anyone tell me how easy it is to replace the CD canger in a Z4, I have the None MP3 version at the mo, and am considering getting a CHA-S634 Alpine unit with the MP3 capabilities.

Any help would be great

Thanks in advance MattH

About an hour to replace it, it is all body panels on the inside of the car.

But why ... change it for an iPod interface such as Intravee?

Intravee, what is that, does it use the changers interface, I'd like to be able to ditch the changer and used a USB drive, but it all seems complicated from what I'm told and wit ha lot of the retro fit kits you end up with stuff stuck all over the dash.

Do you have any links on the Intravee.

Thanks

Matt

Oh - and yes, plugs straight into the existing cabling. No new cabling required to use the Intravee solution.

That looks neat. I have an existing cd changer which is Mp3 but i still need to change the damn CDs, burn them, PITA. I've done a bit of research and reading. intravee seems to be th emost logical choice. I've a 06 plate //MR with satnav and BT- will it affect those. Also since I've the cd changerm, i was reading somewhere in the forum that its a bummer to remove. is it so. I've never done this before but I dont want to DIY and destroy things.
Is it just the case of unscrewing the CD changer and pluuging the intravee thing with the adapter or is it more complicated than that.

cheers

You have the same options as I have as you can see my phone. It does not affect anything relating to that, it just plugs into the existing CD wiring.

Removing cd would take me about an hour, tops.

Hi everyone,
interesting reading, this. I have a CD changer which no longer works (in my 04 3.0I with Sat Nav but standard? sound system - 8 speakers but no subs). I would like to fit an Ipod adaptor but would like to get as much control as possible from the head unit/display screen (don't want to have to access directly from the ipod at all).

The car was previously fitted with a Dension unit which sat in the glove box and was wired in lieu of the CD changer directly into the head unit. Unfortunately this was already disconnected by the dealer when I bought the car, so I've no idea how well it worked.

Can I connect a unit such as the Intravee directly to the head unit and keep all the functions? Also what exactly will i need to buy to achieve this.

I see a number of dealers on Ebay selling a unit called "Connects 2", which claims to do all the intravee does for about £50.00 - anyone know anything about this unit?

Finally, BMW's offering - a lot of money, but is it anything special?
