Good job well done sp3ectre, as all looks OK - I am routing through Bahrain on a VPN so may not be affecting me..... . Not sure I can do anything to help but if I can just ask

Thanks AlanJ, I think I am on top of it... spent most of the evening so far clearing out old files and changing passwords.... always hard to tell if you are dealing with a proper hacker or a script kiddie... tending to think the latter at the moment, but you can never be too sure.

There's a group of them calling themselves the muslim protest team.
They're from Turkey and they're just using known exploits in phpbb.

no real hacker would bother hacking a site like this and then advertise the fact they've done it....
and they certainly wouldn't advertise themselves with an email to "get better security".
