TomTom updates - Speed Camera deal

Post by pvr » Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:22 am

Got an email from TomTom about special deal on Speed Camera locations.

As I use an Origin for the cameras in the UK, I have never bothered, but the deal is now for £9.99 for a year including Europe. That was good I thought, so I got it especially as I have some roadtrips organised.

Even nicer is when you enter a VAT number, you get it for £8.33 as they just knock the VAT off as well.

Great deal

How would this compare to the info the Road Angel provides? Do you need both?

Does your Road Angel work abroad as well?

I primarily want it for the European coverage as I, uh, have been flashed a few times there and I never know if they get a bit excited about the speed that I had been flashed at.

For UK use only - on our last outing in camera city (London), both my Origin as well as the TomTom (with 3 year old camera data) were beeping away for the same cameras so I guess - no, you don't need it if you have a Road Angel.

The TomTom gets occasional use in my other cars, which don't have any protection, so I will use it there for that only.

Cheers, I was thinking more along the lines of going with this offer and selling the road angel, one less thing to plug in! (and yes, I'm still glad I don't have BMW nav :D )

Useful - I've noticed that even with the existing basic update process, my TomTom One (does for me!) has started to flag most of the french fixed cameras but you're right, although theres no reciprocal arrangement at the moment I'm sure it will come, so a worthwhile add-on methinks.

The TomTom one is not very complete, and it takes them months to update it with the latest sites.

I subscribe to the PocketGPSWorld one instead, which even rewards you with a lifetime membership if you're the first to report a new camera.

Or even £8.33 :D

Abroad is the issue for me, not UK, and anything is better then nothing.
