Im going in blind to install the intravee

Post by Pope » Fri Jul 15, 2011 2:19 pm

Right guys.

I should be picking up an intravee and the alpins unit this weekend.

I have a z4m roadster with sat nav and also cd changer.

I also have the top stereo package with the subs behind the seats, is this DSP that I keep reading about. I also have the additional menu to change the sounds etc.

So I cant find a guide that shows me how to install this thing, and there are a few guides hashed together but not for the roadster.

Im picking it up second handn so i dont think there are any instructions etc.

Can anyone give me a really quick guide or know where i can fine one.
My spelling and grammer is terrible, I'm very sorry.

You don't need a guide, just remove the bulkhead carpet and detach the leads from the autochanger and attatch them to the iv and kca units and secure them and the wires in the centre and replace the carpet. Job done.

Done forget to feed the wire fir connection through the centre storage box, there's room either under or above the autochanger.

Unless you have modified the alpine interface the iPod will go to sleep after about a day, you will need to press a button to wake it up. Can stay in the boot, just don't hide it away too much, and remember to hit a button before you drive off as you won't be able to do it from the cabin

Or set up a repeat calendar in your ipod to wake it up every 12 hours...

My first gen ipod nano is Velcro'd to the side of my boot virtually out of sight. I also have my serial to USB cable velco'd to the corner of the boot floor (incase i ever need to update the firmware on the intravee - i can just plug it in without removing anything)

My ipod can last around 10 days without being driven before the repeat calendar function kills my ipod battery and i need to touch the ipod!

Yes it will, you will need a power adaptor like this though:

As the iPhone no longer supports the older charging method, this corrects that. It will still play fine without, it just won't charge

Do you still want this resler interface, if so make sure you splice into cables whilst all taken apart you need power, ibus and ground. You can find them all at the cd changer wires.
