DSC pessure sensor 2 ?

Post by gazrobbo » Mon Oct 03, 2011 9:23 pm

Had my car serviced today and asked them to check out the DSC/ABS lights which have come on a few times

I had already taken out all of the wheel sensors and given them a good clean.

turns out it was 'pressure sensor number 2' on the master cylinder giving an intermittent fault and needs replacing.

has anybody replaced this themselves?
was it difficult?

it was £184 fitted if I get the dealer to do it

I have this problem and from where the mechanic showed me where the sensor was it looks like a easy fix. Can't say for sure though.
Why not get an indy to do it?

I have the same problem with my recently aquired z seems like an alarming common issue. Cleaned one of my speed sensors on the front but cant get the other out as someone rounded the allen bolt. This issue must have been going on for some time lol.

looking at the diagram:

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mod ... g=34&fg=25

it shows 1 of them, but says 'qty 2' has anybody replaced one?

are they just an electrical 'plug and play' sensor?

might try an Indy to save messing around

2 pressure sensors are fitted to the master cylinder.. Once removed brake fluid is exposed.

After replacement you need to bleed the brakes and activate the DSC unit with a diagnostic machine to remove any air from the system.

Where are you based, I might be able to help?

Meh - oddly enough, my DSC/ABS lights + (!) light came on in ORANGE whilst driving along quite peacefully yesterday (manual says problem with DSC system), and now won't go off. :(

Have booked her in ...

Hmmm ... popped off to the Post Office this afternoon. Started her up ... DSC/ABS lights + (!) light came on in ORANGE again (as they have every time since this started) ... drove 500m ... got irritated by the roller blind making a noise (it does that when out and connected to the boot) ... stopped the car ... switched off ... got out ... opened boot, closed roller blind, closed boot ... started up again ... and my warning lights disappeared ... everything working fine again

Hopefully it won't come back again
