Wheel weights

Post by si-forks » Sun Apr 06, 2014 8:39 am

So i bought a set of aftermarket wheels to put on the Z (Dare DR 67) having the tyres fitted yesterday but oh my god how many wheel weights have they put on to get them balanced:shock: and of course they're silver on matt black wheels, stood out like a sore thumb.
My MV2s had virtually no wheel weights on is this because i've bought cheapish wheels although £450 isn't that cheap.
Anyway spent hours last night painting all the weights matte black

Looks better I bet with black weights now. My 224s have got a load of weights on which BMW put on - I'm hoping a good tyre garage will have some different weights to use which will look neater / not need so many.

The tyres obviously have a major effect in balancing up . The wheel weights will differ with each different tyre fitted

I had the same with my 108's i am guessing its more cheapest tyre fitters then cheap wheels.

Although somehow when i got my vmr's they managed to put all the weights at the back of the wheels only so not so visible.

But yours look perfect to me in black now.

Looks awsome mate...

In regards to the wheel weights being geeky about this stuff - I am assuming that they have used many weights to get a nice accurate balance rather then using one or two heavier weights to make up to the total!
