Re: Car not feeling great!
OK
Changed tie rods and ends.
Changed the gearbox mounts and the rear outer upper bush. Back end feels so much better and gear changes are immensely better!!
However, one of the strut bearings may be gone.
When I changed the track rod ends I had a good check around.
Moving the strut left to right using the hub (track rod not attached) there seems to be a knock felt through the strut which appears to be coming from the top mount
Does this sound like a shot top mount bearing? also looks like the spring has snapped. Will post a pic
Cheers
Andy

Re: Car not feeling great!
good shout mate on that code... Was about to use the 25% one
Out of interest what made you go for the Lemforder ones (I assume that's what you got) over the SKF kit?
Thinking of just getting the springs as i can get them for £42 for the pair
Cheers

Pretty sure the Lemforder ones are BMW would supply.
You planning on replacing the shocks while there out and in bits,

They might be yea...wouldn't surprise me if SKF supply the bearings to Lemforder.jan_tekin wrote:Pretty sure the Lemforder ones are BMW would supply.

Was condsidering changing the shocks but its a big extra pile of cash. They seem to rebound OK andno visible leaks. But I know what you mean, it almost seems criminal not to while everythin is apart. Not really sure what to do for the best here as spending could get a little out of control lol

Well,
Top mounts, control arms and bushes replaced. Got another set of 108s with decent tyres on which I'll get on tonight, booked in for hunter alignment in the morning!

Re: Car not feeling great!
I'll let you know!
I've also changed the rear upper outer trailing arm bearings.
Should have done the lower bushes but just not enough time.
I'll have to write a DIY for them as they are pretty easy really. 1 13/16" halfords socket, a few washers, i forger which other size socket, M12 threaded bar and some nuts. And LOTS of grease. Few bits to take off but I must say it was pretty easy!
And for the strut bearings at the front...you really are best off with air tools for this. It just whips the nut off so easily compared to messing around with socket and hex key arrangements.

Bit of a thread ressurection; Andy how did you get on after alignment? Does the car feel as it should?
