BMW headunits which support MP3

Post by Tref » Fri Jun 12, 2009 8:41 am

OK chaps, instead of silly AUX cables and prodding iPods is there an MP£ compatible factory headunit I can swap my BMW Business headunit for? Obviously I would want it to blend in/match the existing dash. My Fiat Panda has a factory MP3 headunit and I just burned a CD with around 100 of my favourite tracks and this provides more than enough choice for me. The CD has not been ejected in over 2 years.

Thanks. Looks like a no-go then as the dash won't match up. Never mind.

Can always change the air vents to match the newer colour unit? I'm tempted by the same idea.

Are people sure it's April 2004 for the newer unit? My Z4's an October 2004 model and I've got the non-MP3 grey/gray coloured unit in mine...

Manufacture date April, so delivery could be anytime later ...

I replaced in my old Z both the radio and the vent, no issues.

Ah, so I guess my Z4 (registered in October) must've been manufactured before April 2004 then. Oh well!

Scratches chin... hmm. How much were the vents?

Mine is a March 2004 build, May 2004 registration car.

Vents were about £25 I think ...

This was my previous Toledo blue 2004 (march) car after I installed the OEM satnav system, where I removed the grey radio with black (as well as the vents).

Would the newer cd changer with the MP3 playback work on the older headunit?

Could be another option for you? would make about 600 tracks then too
