Error codes when giving the car serious welly with traction and stability control fully switched
On my return yesterday from shoplifting I pondered how my new turbo/re-map/other mods affected the traction control abilities..
This is with the ZF8HP auto box
I stopped on a straight road..fully switched the traction / DSC by pressing the traction button down for about 15 seconds..the two yellow warning lights came on..
I then did some full throttle starts...wheels spun fairly furiously (Quaife LSD fitted)
On the third go a major error lit up on the CIC followed by limp home mode.
I restarted the engine and the errors went away.
Got home and checked with Bimmergeeks Protool and saw these stored errors....
Any ideas?

Hmmm, pretty odd set of codes. Can't help thinking it must be related to the wheelspin in some way or other. Did the suspension bounce or was the wheelspin smooth?

Some kind of miss compare between various sensors due to the wheel spin would be my guess. The ECU got confused and defaulted to a safe limp mode..

I wouldn't openly admit to 'shoplifting' if I were youPbondar wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:15 pm On my return yesterday from shoplifting I pondered how my new turbo/re-map/other mods affected the traction control abilities..

Pardon my obscure humour...shoplifting is an euphism for the need to go shopping which I regard as one of the great wastes of time..only redeemed by the opportunity to do a 19 mile round trip in the Zed (19 miles to get the oil warm and once a fortnight to keep the battery topped up)!

Partly related to my other article about coding the DSC.. I see this thread was quite interesting..
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=944126
I wonder if part of the issue was that even with DSC/TRAC off it still intervenes and whether the rear brakes overheated and set of a chain of warnings?

Don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but wasn't that the same transmission message Stevo1987 got on his first 35is which resulted in it being returned to the dealer.
If it is, then I hope yours is more transient, but I'd be tempted not to park it nose up to a wall, or in a tight garage for a while, just in case.

I doubt it..his was a different box Getrag DCT vs ZF8HP ..his error was caused by a defective cable going into the box (in the end)..enuff_zed wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 3:54 pm Don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but wasn't that the same transmission message Stevo1987 got on his first 35is which resulted in it being returned to the dealer.

It is a similar message which was accompanied by the bong of doom. I hate that bonging. Scares the crap out of me whenever I hear it.Pbondar wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:17 pmI doubt it..his was a different box Getrag DCT vs ZF8HP ..his error was caused by a defective cable going into the box (in the end)..enuff_zed wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 3:54 pm Don't want to be the harbinger of doom, but wasn't that the same transmission message Stevo1987 got on his first 35is which resulted in it being returned to the dealer.

I quite like the 'bong of doom'...on the CIC screen you see some great messages from time to time..
I remember chasing Attillio in his Z4M on the NC500.. going very very fast in the rain it bonged and out of the corner of my eye I saw
"Boost implausability error".. that coupled with a speed limit warning set at 125 going 'bong' was enough for SWMBO!

How many times in the last 79,120 kilometres has Monsieur Clouseau's 'Yellow Peril' been driven like this, I wonder?
Exploring the performance limits of such cars often throws up spurious faults, doesn't it?
(Having re-read this, I've realised it's just a polite version of john-e89's previous post. )

To plagiarise the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy:
Pbondar: What happens if I press this button?
Busterboo: I wouldn't-
Pbondar: Oh.
Busterboo: What happened?
Pbondar: A sign lit up, saying 'Please do not press this button again.'

It’s a valid point...it’s the only time I’ve tried it...Busterboo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 12:14 am How many times in the last 79,120 kilometres has Monsieur Clouseau's 'Yellow Peril' been driven like this, I wonder?
