Electronic Damper Control Unit fail

Post by Busterboo » Fri Dec 18, 2020 9:17 pm

Sport+ in 35iS. Warning, 'Damper Control Failure'. Can feel system working, but do what the screen tells me and drive 'carefully' to nearest BMW agent.

Well, there's a bit of a lie there. What I really did was stop at the next lay-by, having changed down into Sport and then Normal. Switched off, counted to 37 - one of my favourite numbers - started the engine and looked in Faults. None.

Now, I don't spend a lot of time in Sport+ in December, so this didn't bother me much and I hoped it might be a random data fault, anyway. In fact, it wasn't. The indy laptopped it and said it was a job for the old extended warranty, which meant ... Sytner BMW.

They fitted a replacement Electronic Damper Control Unit for £659.04. My excess was £250*.

(*This also covered another item, about which a separate post.)
