To save you removing the knee airbag and glovebox, have you considered placing the MMI box in the space behind the air-con controls (timestamp 24:29 in my video)? Doing this means you don't have to remove the glovebox at all.
I think that's growing on me... I'll take some pictures of the result. I finally disconnected the legacy phone cabling while the center console was disconnected. I'll probably thread the USB back under the center for a future dock mod you've approached.

It’s what I did..didn’t leave enough slack cable so it’s a real fiddle connecting the phone..I’ll take the centre console back out to give some more slack plus some other tidy ups..

I wasn't super confident in doing this myself, and spend a fair wack getting it done. I was happy spending the $$$ though. I asked the right questions, in email, and was told that it 100% has Android Auto wireless and it 100% does not. So, going back to them now and getting them to rip out and replace with Mr12v. I was told that, "they had tested the box with Wireless Android Auto and my model car" which is why I choose theirs, over Mr12v.

Send off the email yesterday to ask about ripping it out.

Wired it works fine with my Pixel 7 - doesn't work at all with S21 - and it is pretty cool having it in my 2009 Z4. Side note, love the car. Had to pay a bit for it in Aus, but stuff is expensive here and its an amazing car to own. Just so much fun to drive. I have a mate with a Ford Raptor and he was like, "my car is faster" but I think he doesnt understand how much fun it is driving an actual sports car.

OK, so just to clarify, this 'may' help some Samsung owners (not sure if this'll work on other phones)....

To activate Wireless Android Auto (for those phones that can but are not already set up as such) or to check that yours is set...

Open phone and go to Settings,
then scroll down to "Apps" and open it...

Scroll down to "In app notification settings" and open it...

Then scroll down to "Version" and keep clicking on this multiple times until a box opens and accept that...

Then at the top right click the 3 dots...

and then click on "Developer settings"...

Then at the top you'll see a setting for "Wireless Android Auto" with a check box, make sure this option is ticked...

If that setting isn't ticked then that'll be why you can't access wireless Android Auto. My old A70 wasn't ticked so I set it up that way (that's when the wireless version was first brought out), but my next Samsung, A52, was already done as is my current S22, so it's worth checking

So Dave, B21... you guys rock. This is my favorite daily quality upgrade ever...

After seeing how neat B21's pictures were of the screaming banana implementation -- I decided to keep my canted installation private..lol
I still have to configure it to stop trying to swap to a camera when it goes into reverse until I get the time to do that mod (that is sitting in a box).

And I did add a blue button, because now I can ignore all of the button candy that seems to be stuck in my targeted ads.

Isn't opening Pandora asking for trouble?

On a serious note though, how have you got both windows showing the music app? Mine will show full screen maps or large music and small maps next to it? I can't get full screen music and certainly not two music windows

OK so go into the box settings (if you're wireless then click the "Mr12volt" app icon in the options list, or if wired then don't have the phone connected).
And go down to "Car Setting"

And then at the top is "Reverse camera", click this option

And choose "None"
This will now not try to go into the camera when placed in reverse.

Lol , no clue.. I just didn't want to paste an image with a map to my house, so I picked pandora on the left nav icons. I'll try to duplicate intentionally on my next drive. And shut the to-be-added camera off.

Decided to play around with the MMI MOST box start up screen that can no longer be changed in the latest release and has the Mr 12 Volt splash screen.

So uploaded a 1280*480 splash screen of my own and also replaced the Mr 12 Volt Icon in the apps screen with a tasteful BMW logo..

Will start buttoning up the interior steadily now..

Anyone need help on coding the splash screen or app icon let me know

Please can you share how to do the splash screen and icon changes?

Having just done mine. For some strange reason I had to set SVS to activate. Now when I press the button on the steering wheel Siri pops up and no BMW assistance. It just works but no idea why

AnubisZed did mine for me a couple of weeks ago and it's working well. Had an instance (driving back after the installation) where the box just went off and wouldn't come back on. After a few hours it came back and have not had an issue ever since.

One question I have though is regarding the pdc. When I go into reverse the stock pdc visuals come on the screen, however when I go into drive the screen goes back to Android auto and I don't get the pdc on the screen anymore. I think it still works but there is nothing on the screen.

Hi, what o mean is after going into reverse, then back into drive then Android auto comes back on. Before ethe MMI was installed the pdc graphic would stay on the screen for a while after going from reverse to drive.

I don't think it's a big issue as I think the front sensors will still be audible, just nothing on the screen.

Create a 1280 x 480 jpeg
Rename it ‘boot logo’ without a suffix
Copy that and a P2000 update file into the root of a usb fat 32 format disk
Insert into Mr12 Volt usb port
Power up and go to system reboot …
Use reboot then it should appear
