Patience is a virtue ..part of the problem for AY lovers is that not only was it the most limited of the ‘ bright’ colours production run, but it’s 30 month period was split over the 23i and 30i period…so there are a lot less AY N20 powered cars than VO N20 powered cars…

Scotland is the last great bastion of hooning and grand touring in the UK…low population density, large areas of rural land, few police and limited traffic enforcement techniques makes it a great place to extend your car…plus gob smacking scenery
Yep seen them... None of them are ideal, either Cat S, no heated seats, higher mileage or asking price too high. But I will keep checking daily. Let's just say if a nice AY comes for sale at a reasonable price, I'll have to pop to say hello as I plan to do a little road trip in the Highlands this year!

B21 wrote: Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:39 pm So after a few days of steadily working through the 2nd order issues caused by the new woofers, the MMI box, the carbon fibre trim and the front and rear car cams we are there ..

Had an issue where the Garmin USB plug was DOA…had to pop the centre console to use a who-flung-dung no brand usb 12v plug to get power to the cameras..

Bit of vacuuming after all the crap fell out of the cabin filter..fresh interior mats..not quite as good as I’d hoped for but heh ho..the same company did a great job on the Volvo but these just weren’t as good..

One of the c/f trims for the light switch wasn’t fully seated so a night on the bench with some wood clamps and some 2 pack epoxy glue fixed that..

MMI box seems stable ..

The mic sitting inside the trim cover over the steering shaft seems a bit deaf..I have to shout…

I’ll need to code out the BMW standard audio assist button so it calls Siri plus hook up the car cams to each other…the rear Garmin Mini 2 gets speed and location data from the front Garmin car cam..

A few videos on YouTube to try and give more of a perspective on the work..

It’s all coming together now. The trims are looking great!

Why are so many private sellers such idiots at the moment? I see so many private sale cars at retail prices or above. Then they can't sell them, so end up selling to a dealer (or WBAC if desperate) for trade money!

£19.5k asking, then must have sold to the dealer for £15k max, probably nearer £14k. If they had just asked £16k in the first place! :headbang:

This Northern Ireland based car keeps rotating around..it’s got a Quaife LSD and Alcon brakes…sadly a stubby has been fitted but it’s copied moi with the gloss black LCI side repeaters..the owner had been asking £26k but I see it’s in a dealer’s hand for a lot less..

So it would seem from the last two links to AY E89s that their owners are deluded when it comes time to sell?

AY is rare for a reason......IT WAS AN UNPOPULAR COLOUR. Doesn't make them worth MORE money, does it?
