Spending a week in Stirling in July. Any recommendations for any good half days out with a good spot for lunch? Got 3-4 days booked up with things but have a couple of days where I don't want to drive round aimlessly hoping I end up somewhere nice. Oh and I'm trying to impress the other half with a nice lunch stop.

Stirling is a pretty good base for many scenic drives but an easy one would be to head East and taking in the East Neuk of Fife along to Crail then up to St Andrews then back to Stirling via Auchtermuchty then at yetts o Muchart turn towards Glendevon then down Glen Eagles
Avoid the M90 but plenty quiet roads back maybe Crieff then Comrie and back down to Stirling
Lots of places to stop for food, plenty to see on the way, the bridges over the Forth, views over to Edinburgh and maybe a walk around Crail or StAndrews

You’re in a great location to enjoy the Trossachs and part of the highlands…if you set a time driving / mileage limit I (and others) can send a variety of routes
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Be warned Stirling and surrounds are Speed Camera Central. Take the tourist road. No idea for eateries. I generaly take a butty to the top of the nearest mountain when I'm up that way.

Thanks and about 80-100 miles to lunch and then 80-100 back seems good. (wife doesn't like being stuck in car too long and with a 400 mile trip up.....)

I live in the West Coast and my daughter lived in Stirling If staying in Stirling for food, The birds and bees is an excellent place to eat.
Re drives, depending how long you want to go, or do on different days but Loch Lomond up to Inveraray you will struggle to beat, stopping at The George hotel in Inveraray for lunch, and if you felling likes drive from there, upto Dalmally. You then have the choice of going to either left to Oban, Cuan Mor or Eesk for food, or go right, to Glen Coe.
You can do both these trips separately, Inveraray one day directly from Stirling and Glen Coe, two of the most stunning and scenic drives you’ll do

You also have Castle Combe Circuit, should you be so inclined to watch a spot of track action.

I make that about 400 miles one way so probably outside the OP parameters?

That's the one. Sat and watched several races there. Now which way is Scotland again.
