Some metallic plasti dip on order to respray the wiper arms…sapphire black to match the car

In the meantime swapped these over

Few more jobs ticked off!

Oil cap gasket changed over and engine top cleaned up, actually for an older car the engine is quite clean of grime.

Wanted to clean up the wiper arms, they were a bit battered. So bought myself a puller and went to work, took a hell of a pull but they came off eventually with a rather scary bang! But all good, sprayed with sapphire metallic plastidip, scuttle panel cleaned up and put back in place.

Steering wheel looked a bit tired too. So got out the trusty panel wipe and cleaned off all the bits of soft touch left on it

Cleans up nicely! Like the idea of refurbing the wiper arms, now that you mention it mine too look a bit tired…

It really does make a difference. Especially on a black car where something that has faded sticks out so much more.

Nice little addition from zunsport...subtle but neatens the front up in my opinion.

MOT, passed

Apparently the car is in great shape, had a good chat with the tester whilst stood under it. Just goes to show how good maintenance and care can make a 115k mile car work just as well as lower mileage ones.

No reason why not. In my experience a nice clean undercarriage is much more likely to get a pass than a car that rains down rust and crud on the tester when he pokes it with a screwdriver.

Those wipers look like new

Thanks both, yes the wipers were a great job! Literally took an hour. Worst bit was popping them off, the sanding and plastidip was fun and easy. I would really recommend as it does make a big visual difference. Same as blackening the plastic parts on the A pillar.

And yes the grill is awesome, I ummed and urred for a while then took the plunge when I realised you could could get them without badges on.

Just to keep this up to date, I did a couple of smaller things.

Dust shield bolt holes began to rot out and it was having a right old time rattling away so took some great advice from the forum to take the brake disc off and fit some washers, did the job perfectly. Note there are two lower bolts and the second one (out of view it sits directionally opposite the visible one the other side of the hub) was going the same way so put a washer on there too.

Also started the process of wrapping the interior. I wanted to go for a black alcantara feel, so bought some self adhesive fabric and started with the easy bits, the door grabs, rest of dash to follow.

Lovely car
Before you buy a new switch under the bonnet just bend the bracket upwards a little bit

The car came with a load of optional extras, but no cup holders. They do chinese ones on ebay for 23 quid so snapped one up for the drivers side.

Pretty simple install, although they dont come with a self tapping screw for the back of it so had to source one from the depths of the shed!

Image

Thought I would test a can before putting it back in and to my horror...

Image

Ummed and urred a bit then just for no reason whatsoever pushed the securing clip on the side in a bit and it clicked, then clicked again, until

Image

It then happily held the can in place, huzzah!

A nice easy mod if you dont have it already.

Saw a tip on here previously, put your cup in the holder and click until it stops, take it out and push one click further, then put it back in. Works a treat!
