Favourite song of all time
I was looking at the pop quiz thread and some of the seminal songs people post on there. That allied to the untimely death of Sinead O'Conor and the 'nothing compares...' song which was a hit at a very special period of my life. So got me thinking that everybody has a favourite song of all time for them, for one reason or another:
So please post your favourite song and why
Mine is 'Sailing' by Christopher Cross. Just a song that has it all IMO and was on the radio when I was a young teenager, so takes me back to more innocent, carefree and happy times.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Because I have an odd sense of humour, and like a good guitar, it has to be 'Lola', by the Kinks.
Second favourite is 'I'm into something good', by Herman's Hermits, purely because it was No.1 when I was born.

Eagles - Taking it easy
No reasons, I just like it. I‘ve instructed my wife that it should be played when they are leaving my funeral and off for their drinks and ham sandwiches.
After listening to the lyrics she isn’t keen on my choice!
But it’s my favourite nevertheless

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I think my absolute favourite two tracks are "Life on Mars" by Mr Bowie and "Journey of the Sorcerer" by the Eagles because I'm the sort of cool frood who knows where his towel is [1]

If I Had a Golden Umbrella, Alma Cogan.
My gran used to play it on her phono gram. I have her original 78 somewhere.
I still sing it out loud on the moors when it's heaving down. Cheers every one up. Cos they realise there is some one in the world who can sing even worse than they can.

Two from different ends of the musical spectrum for me,
Time to say goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman - Gives me goose bumps as soon as I hear the intro. Pure class.
Common People - Pulp. Easy jet flight, surrounded by people in shell suits and kiddywinks. Air pods in, set playlist to full volume and this track began to play. Unfortunately it was a minute or so before I realised the Air pods had not paired with the bluetooth. Love the song though.

Nights In White Satin by the Moody Blues. They played live at the final Summer Ball of my university days at Durham. I had one one of the best nights of my life. At least I think I did from what I can remember and what my mates told me.
