It was indeed. The ball lasted all night and we had breakfast on the race course. Amazing how the rose tinted spectacles always mean that the weather was better in years gone by.
I have happy memories too of your neck of the woods. As a child I used to go and watch Sunderland play in the times of Len Shackleton, Gentleman Jim Baxster and Jimmy Montgomery.
