Retrofit power folding door mirror.

Post by r1george » Thu Jul 27, 2023 1:48 pm

Hi Guys,

My e89 hasn't got power fold mirrors and was wondering if I could retrofit power fold mirrors.
I can get the mirrors and the door switch but do I need extra wiring? Also I assume I'll have to get the mirrors coded in.

Any help would be appreciated

cheers

Yes there is a wiring change for the passenger side door mirror, the drivers side remains the same.
Once the wiring is complete you can just plug, and bolt, the mirrors in and swap over the switch unit. Then there's some basic coding to perform.
It's a relatively straightforward retrofit, so long as you don't mind taking panels off.

Retrofit power folding door mirror.

OK, so a parts list to help you....

Powerfold mirror left (passenger) side...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166247764799 ... R8z48Ie0Yg

Powerfold mirror right (drivers) side...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155583980412 ... R8z48Ie0Yg

Drivers door switch...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155588352012 ... R7btmIi0Yg

These are the cheapest ones on eBay at the moment. These parts are very reasonably priced, so you'll notice that I'm not even including my own that's for sale!
I'll sort the wiring diagrams for you and post them up, as well as the coding procedure

Hi Dave,

Just had a quick look at your youtube channel and I recognise you. I bought my White with red leather 2010 Z4 30i a while back for you to fit cruise control for me.

I've since bought my latest 28i 2016 which again didn't have cruise so I went ahead and fitted it myself, all fitted perfect and followed a youtube video but it didn't work, I also found your video but I don't have your software unfortunately

In the description of my cruise control video is a link to the pdf of how to do it. In that pdf is a link to the software and updates etc (all free and legit)
Give me a shout if you need anything.

Retrofit power folding door mirror.

Post by r1george » Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:50 pm

Hi Dave,

I now have both mirrors and the correct switch based on the ebay listing you provided. You mentioned that the drivers door was plug and play but there was wiring to do in the passenger door and that you had details of what to do, I'd be very happy if you could share this information with me.

Also I've looked at the information regarding the software and it may be beyond my computer skills to download it let allown program the car

Would you consider sorting the coding for me for both the mirrors and the cruise if I have already fitted them and maybe show me how to download the software if I bring my laptop ?

Hi Dave

Charlie here hope all is good?

Couldn’t find the wiring diagram you mention could you DM me this? (Folding mirrors retro fit)

As per the OP I’m not super confident in the coding nor wiring part (remember the 609 install “we did”).

But I’ll give everything a go … once … what could possibly go wrong 😂😬😂

Hi Dave,

When do you think you would be available to code the cruise control and the mirrors on my E89

The cruise is already fitted so hopefully that's just a case of coding and the mirrors need wiring up so won't work but just wanted them to be coded for when I get round to doing the wiring.

So no physical work as such just coding.

Hope this makes sense

Cheers Carl

Hi,

I'm looking at doing the folding door mirrors, I'm ok with getting the parts, just need to know what wiring is needed to be done on passenger side, and what coding is involved

Many thanks
