Why do you need strut reinforcement plates on an E89?

I’m not aware of any cracking or flexing issues on E89s?

Make it stronger and protect it would be my guess... :D :D
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

The E89 has a much stronger chassis than the E85 where tower strut problems were commonplace ..deflection , cracking etc

AFAIK there are no support plates on common sale …if you are worried you could add a strut brace like Weicher across the struts that have substantial tower plates …

I’ve got one fitted although I can’t say I noticed any effect / improvement from its effect..

Bimmerworld did quite a bit of research on this and came to the conclusion that even on a track the later design of strut towers with their bracing were good…FWIW

Thanks for the info!! I do believe all the info I have reviewed on the strut plates were on the E85 so I guess I won’t worry about it! Save me a little money and additional hassle!!
