Classic 50th M anniversary badges

Post by dr_john » Sun Aug 13, 2023 12:15 am

I noticed these on some models in the showroom recently. I think they are Uber cool, look great on the bonnet and boot lid.

Seems my dealer will supply and fit them for £130 inc VAT, seems like a no brainer to me, tempted to get them done in time for pick up of new car next week.

Thoughts/opinions? :)

What color is your car? I think the 50th Anniversary Badges look better on the darker colors.

Agreed that they will suit darker body colours.

My new car is Sapphire Black, so should be spot on :)

I got them for my Thundernight, and like them. Consider getting the matching badges for your wheels too.

I really like them and came very close to pushing the button on a full set to include the wheel centre badges. I eventually decided against them as no matter how careful the dealership would have been when removing the existing badges there is the potential, especially with the front badge, of damaging the paintwork.

I have seen them on a sapphire black G29 and they certainly worked with that colour.

Yes they are a cool badge.
I have changed the originals on my car, "Frozen Orange" for the 50th badges..

Not difficult to do, just be VERY careful, and watch some YouTube videos, on how to....

I got them from Ali Express, if my memory serves me, they were about £30 all in, thats for 7 badges, 4 wheel centers, one bonnet, one boot [both the same size], and a steering wheel badge..

See pics. There are 7 badges its just i had already fitted the rear one when i took the pic..

Thanks for the advice Dave, that badge looks great against the frozen orange

I’m going to get my dealer to fit front and rear ones before I pick the car up next week, I really don’t have the courage to do it myself especially on a brand new car!

The badges are all easy to remove and DIY. Well I say Easy but my back one was seized into the holes so took a while and in the end both posts snapped off the OEM badge so it took a bit of effort and I had to remove the boot liner to check it wasn’t held in by anything more then the posts it was that stubborn but the front one popped straight off. Use a microfibre and a trim pry tool. Place the microfibre down and place the trim tool on top of that and under the badge and slowly lever up.

I’ve got a variation of the 50th anniversary badges on mine but they are all blacked out ones.

Is your car an 'M'?
If not then what is the difference between fitting these and the oft frowned upon fitting of an 'M' badge? :poke:

No, but it’s an MSport which BMW will happily fit to. The dealer has just phoned to say they will be fitted by handover (next Monday).

Only problem is I have just tested positive for Covid (first time!), I feel like crap and seriously doubt that I will be well enough by next week

Had my third go at it a couple of weeks back. Fairly mild this time. Head cold really.
But cannot shake off the cough.

My wife and I seem to have been lucky and missed it all, we are still very careful and try not to touch door handles, petrol pumps etc with bare hands. And always wash hands. Of course there is always that odd time we forget but lucky so far.

Feeling a bit better. My wife has been 48 hours ahead of me so she’s well on the mend.

We had a few days break down in Walberswick, Suffolk last week staying at a pub, probably picked it up down there.

Quite possibly. There's been a bit of an outbreak around Norfolk & Suffolk over the last few weeks.
I was over at Walberswick about the time I went down with it funnily enough.
