Is this the right size for the 3.0si filter? Want to do the oil change shortly but only have the “destroy oil filter” type ratchets at the moment

Would you not be better to buy the correct tool that fits over the top and is undone using a ratchet handle?
Less likely to damage the housing i would have thought?

Always up for better alternatives so do you have an example of that one?

Sorry, should have backed up my initial statement:

That is just one example, there are several options.

Thank you, bought that one.

Just looking on autodoc for a new sump plug, any preference for the make? I have not heard of any of them they list. Will get the Mahle filter

Just check because some filters come complete with a new sump plug as well.
FWIW I always use Mann filters, but Mahle are a good make too.

Do you buy the oil / filter / sump plug from Autodoc or from other sources? I used to buy from Opie but that seems quite expensive with the shipping.

I stocked up from Opie about 18 months ago.

Filters don't generally come with the plug but they ought to come with the crush washer. Is the plug actually mangled to need a new one?

Not done it yet, but usually I replace the lot but a crusher ring should be enough. I will check with the filters what does come with it.

Interesting that Halfords was cheaper for a Mann filter
