Newbie today & have e89 issue

Post by Vick01 » Wed Sep 06, 2023 10:33 am

Newbie from the UK Angela
Have a 2013 35is e89 55k miles had it about 10 months.
Hope someone can help with the issue that appeared yesterday.

Went to open the roof from the key fob press & holding the unlock button
Windows went down, rear part of roof Started to lift then stopped after a couple of inches and error on display Said
Roof impaired. The boot didn’t start to open so guessing that’s why it thinks it’s impaired.
Could not close it again via the switch in the car had to hold down the lock button on key fob then roof back part closed & windows went back up.
Opened boot via the badge on the back and could not see anything that was blocking the boot lifting or any broken bits and the roof shelf is in the right place.

Would appreciate any options on what I can check.
Thanks

You'll really need a code reader to establish the problem. its "normally" a faulty microswitch or a broken wire. Lots of threads on this website, and some very knowledgeable people too...

Old, tired battery can give the same 'impaired' message too even if the car is otherwise fine and no other warning messages showing - another thing to double check.
