Unless you are interested in buying it, then so what? If you are interested in buying then those discussions should be done by PM.Rickmitch93 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:57 pm Nice enough car. But I can’t get my head round the history? It looks like the service intervals are every 20k? And the last invoice with proof of a service was 2016 or am I reading that wrong? It looks like there is a 5 year gap in the service history.
The service history (and anything else) should be a discussion with the seller and a potential buyer IMO. There are far too many 'for sale' threads on this forum ruined by people picking holes in adverts or the car being sold. It's not really cricket!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Thank you Pondrew, I couldn’t agree more. All I can say is I’m not sure about service intervals but it has been serviced and is an all round lovely car .Pondrew wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:17 pmUnless you are interested in buying it, then so what? It's got shiny exhaust tips; what's not to like?

I didn’t see any derogatory remarks.
Asking for clarification on service history on an advert has to be done in secret now?! And a possible buyer can’t ask questions if the ad isn’t clear before making contact…….
Are these new rules? Because I see questions being asked on most Ads on here.

I thought the guy that always tried trashing adverts had left. It’s a nice car for ‘f’ sake give him a chance.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

I am in the market for a 2.5si once I have sold my 2.2 z3 sport which you’ll see is for sale. I wouldn’t have commented if I wasn’t interested, hence why I did and wanted a bit more clarification for the service history.Pondrew wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:17 pmUnless you are interested in buying it, then so what? When coming to part ways with my money for a car I like to find out as much as history about the car as possible.
Apologies and good luck with the sale.

You gotta laugh at some of the Mike Brewers on here
Looking for £5k £6k sports cars getting on for 18 yrs old & wanting a book full of stamps to certify its a good buy
Its not difficult to piece together the history , from 2009 to 2013 it only covered 13k & was obviously stored for part of that time as there was no MOT for years 2011 & 2012 .
It had a Ins2 done on 53k which would be pretty much bang on for the recommended factory service regime oil - ins1 - oil - ins 2 - oil .
It had a ins1 ( itself nothing more than a oil change + visual on a N52) at 83k again about right for the recommended regime .
Anyone seriously interested should stand in front of the car ( the pics alone should be enough to know if it warrants a viewing ) & a well kept example is not hard to spot over a shabby one .
The straight 6 N52 has very few issues & a cold start / warm tickover should be enough to know what you are buying into .
The 2 tone individual trim looks really fresh for its 100k / 17yrs & that alone says a lot about its previous keepers .
The spec is decent too along with a rare & sought after paint
Last service not corroborated ? WoW , surely any new owner would spend £100 after the purchase for a fresh oil + filter service & general onceover .
Lovely car Ed , i'm sure a genuine buyer will see it for what it is & have a rare example of the Si roadster to cherish & enjoy

I wouldn’t be put off by that service history either. It’s been serviced more than most and is typical of cars serviced when the service indicator says it’s due. Changing the oil every year on a M54/N52 that’s only doing a few thousand miles in that time is overkill IMO, unless it’s being tracked.
GLWTS Lynchy, beautiful car.

When buying it’s nice to see service history but condition is the overriding decision maker, these cars are 15+yrs old and most have had multiple owners because they are toys, we buy them, want something different and sell them. If the car is is in good condition when you buy it the risk of loss due to a major breakdown is low, for £3k you can find a good car and it’s probably worth half that as salvage, insurance is cheap any damage will see it written off. Parts for DIY maintenence are easily available and technical help from the forum is excellent, as a weekend fun toy the Z4 is hard to beat.

I wouldn't get too hung up on a potential gap in the Service History either for an N52 engine. It may have been serviced in between with no invoice or stamp anyway.
After having had three N52 engined cars I took a punt on a 4th that had no evidence of a service between 64,081 miles on 8 June 2010 and 91,185 miles on 15 August 2016! But after that there was a stamp for an oil service (albeit no date or mileage specified) then an oil service and cam-cover gasket at 107,152 miles on 20 March 2019 days before I bought it.
It went over 123K miles yesterday and still performs faultlessly.
Phoenix Yellow with the matching Bi-colour seats is almost as rare as hen's teeth anyway!
