How to remove dings in body panel

Post by Nanu » Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:05 pm

Just got back from fab holiday to find a small ding in the middle of the door panel. Not big but noticeable and of course will cost to repair at the likes of Chips Away. :x

Been reading some stuff on the Internet and seen some suggestions re home repairs if the dent is only small. Suggestions such as boiling water over the damage in the hope it pops out (Doesn't sound like a good idea to me), using a hair dryer and a sink plunger to buying a car dent removal device from the amazon.

Has anyone used any of these or similar methods that is worth trying or that actually works before coughing up hard earned cash to a garage?

I pay £20 cash to a PDR guy that does up to 3 dents for that. You never know he has done it, so I would not bother trying anything myself for that money.

Is that the guy I put you in contact with. If so I think we are lucky. Most places down here are around £100.

I guess they do the same as everyone seems to do, i.e. hike prices. It is about 3 years ago when I last needed one, so for all I know that £20 has gone to £200 now :x

Get a proper dent man Nanu, prices will vary but it’ll be worth it, don’t try it yourself. Have a little shop around and look at reviews

I have a couple of minor dings on my 5. The Z is ok though! :)

Well South and well West of Sunderland which is in the Northeast.

Can’t blame anyone from wanting to associate themselves with proper northerners though which is understandable.

Back to the original point though would be appreciated :)
