I'm surprised it seems likely to be a diesel, but I've seen some reports of BMW 3 Series diesels catching fire, although it was a Land Rover this time.

It was also a Land Rover that started the fire in the Echo Arena car park in Liverpool.

So best to park well away from any LR product!
