New z4 coupe owner

Hi all!

I have just bought a high mileage but quite cheap (£4000).

It needs few mechanical bits, but drove very nicely on the 100 mile return journey.

It has rust in the usual place on the rear arches where they meet the sill covers. My bodyshop asked me to supply two wings, but they are very rare, and BMW say NS is on backorder indefinitely. I may try and convince them to repair the rust.

In any case, the only other bits are wiper linkage and a window regulator, a rattly exhaust flap and a few oil leaks, Otherwise I'm pretty happy

I have an E46 330ci supercharged coupe but this is a different beast!

I'm a Mercedes mechanic by trade but have a bit of experience with the older bmws and especially the motorbikes.

Hi and welcome to the forum from a serial Coupe owner.

It sounds like you must have found the cheapest Coupe around, so a few issues are probably to be expected!

But for me they just feel so special to drive.

Hope you can get those panels sorted anyway.

Much appreciated and that's a good find as I am in Sussex, too! I will pm him via that other forum.

I'll be taking a look at the car underneath in detail tomorrow, so will see what we find!

Before I managed to get pictures up, it went pop!

The Disa valve stem fell out and got lodged in cylinder no 6 intake valve. Luckily happened outside my house whilst idling so hopefully no damage. Will be pulling the intake manifold off next week and hopefully get it up and running.
