Covid/Flu jab.

I had both a month ago, as I'm doing some travelling soon. Zero issues, just like my folks and others that I know that have been double tapped

Covid/Flu jab.

Post by ronk » Thu Nov 02, 2023 12:29 pm

As I’m one in Boris J’s expendable category I’ve had the full set!

I had my Pneumonia jab when I turned 70 but I was “lucky” enough to get Bacterial Pneumonia while ago.
I didn’t realise just how serious it was.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Pneumonia is nasty Ron, learnt all about when my mum had it at 84

I was taken to hospital by ambulance as my blood oxygen had dropped to 83% (measured by iwatch)
Whilst in hospital, I even made tentative arrangements with a member in here too sell my Z - I thought I was goosed!

Covid/Flu jab.

Post by enuff_zed » Thu Nov 02, 2023 6:07 pm

I've had covid 3 times now according to the testing widgets.
First time was a bit knackered for a couple of days, other two have just been heavy colds which prior to the pandemic I wouldn't even have thought of testing.
So I reckon there is definitely a benefit to building up some immunity.
Worked for me but I know others have had different experiences and I'm not arguing with that.

What I do find hilarious is that for the last 18 months no-one has had a cold. Nor has anyone had 'the flu' (which of course was also only a cold).
Now everyone has covid at the drop of a sneeze.

I think it's because with us we wash our hands still all the time, use a glove to fill the car and try not to touch things with bare hands that others have. I.e. railings, gates, door handles and our bins after collection. Over the top?

I don't think it is over the top as it has actually worked for you and no-one could forecast how their body would react to it.
I suppose I was lucky, but with that luck I'm pretty sure has now come some built up immunity.

Perhaps it was a beneficial side effect of all the stuff they pumped into me prior to Gulf War 1?
Messed me up for a very long time that, but now I could be reaping the benefits.
Can imagine my immune system saying "Covid? Pffft! Is that it?"

Covid/Flu jab.

Post by Nanu » Thu Nov 02, 2023 8:50 pm

Had three Covid jabs now (mainly so we could go on holidays) and still have had Covid three times, albeit the first time was Feb / March 2020 when there wasn't a jab available.

Worst symptom was the loss of taste for about 3 months when I first caught it but after that, I have had worse bouts of cold. I am assuming that the jabs don't prevent you catching it and by now I should have enough antibodies in my system to fight off the worst of what Covid can throw at me.

Won't be having any more jabs unless I have to in order to travel.
