Hi All, have I over priced this or am I just being impatient? Any tips to help get it sold?

I am having little interest in it and I would like to move it on for an X5 before peak summer.

Thanks in advance

The only way to achieve a quick sale is to drop the price, unfortunately. Getting a second key and the diff bushes sorted would help as well although you might not recoup the costs of doing that.

Nothing is selling, the M market is totally flat, there are cars that have been for sale all last year and still sitting there, day in day out the same cars are available on all the sites. I don’t know when or if it’s going to improve, not sure it will tbh.

Your car is well into the 90k miles without the rod bearings being at least inspected, which imho they’re due a look at at that mileqge, one key, some upgrades that are tasty but not necessarily appealing to a lot of potential buyers. It’s just imho but I think given how difficult it is to sell these cars at the moment, you’re into sub £10k to even get a sniff. I’m not meaning to offend but as you asked given the current situation…. :(

Anyhoo I wish you well, but honestly I think you’ll be trading it in come summer.

Thanks John, I appreciate the feedback. It's good to get a second opinion on it.

I will look to drop it to £10k given the market and update the ads.

As John has said more or less. As with any mods, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, but the gear stick and huge fire extinguisher I don't think are doing it any favours for the regular punter. Probably easily enough removed but first impressions count and there's enough choice out there to be fairly fussy.
I would return it to a bit more standard if it was me.

Looks like I've been beaten to it a bit(!)

It might not be what you want to do, but if you can, I'd recommend going back to standard with the exhaust, suspension & Shifter, and removing the fire extinguisher.

In my experience the mods you've done will significantly narrow your prospective audience, and you shouldn't have any problems selling the upgraded parts separately (the exhaust & suspension fits Roadster & Coupes, so wider audience, and the suspension I think possibly would fit an E36, the shifter is almost certainly universal BMW, so much wider audience....).

Up to you, but if you put even the shifter and exhaust back to standard, the 'look' of the car would likely appeal to many more people.

Just a thought, GLWTS either way chap

A kick in the teeth Matt for sure but hopefully you’ll get some interest with the revised price.

Seems that folk selling aren't willing to be realistic, which is understandable given what they, and I, will and have paid for these cars in better times, but unless they want rid they’re going to simply have to take a hit, or have them sitting for sale for who knows how long,..? I paid £18k for mine 7yrs ago, fully specced on 32k miles, it’s on 39k miles now waiting for a full on show car rebuild underneath when I can get to it, even when it’s done and hopefully looking factory fresh I reckon I’ll be looking at £14k-£16k ish tops…. Sad but the ground has dropped out from underneath these cars.

I will remove some mods but I sold a lot of the original parts on, so the BC's etc are going to have to go with the car :headbang:

Cars are depreciating assets, I have considered investing more to bring it up to 100% but with the market as it is, decided not to invest anymore as I can't increase the advert price once it is out in the wild. So I will keep it at £10k and see if it drums up any interest.

We Buy Any Car are offering £5k so there's always financial suicide  I am not forced to sell I have another car, so I can wait for a reasonable offer somewhere close to asking

I think it’s uncertainty of the market at the mo. WBAC offered me the same. Just silly really might as well break it for that money. Might be worth hanging on taking it down and selling come late spring when there is more demand

If I didn’t have the Alpina I’d be interested enough to view it.

Looks like it falls into the £395 tax bracket from the Autotrader listing, that’s a big plus point for a Z4M.
It’s a great colour
It’s decent Spec
Most mods easily reversible
Front bumper not an especially expensive job
Presumably HPI clear?

For me, the gear stick screams Tokyo-drift’ and abused, removing that and the fire extinguisher and putting the standard black seatbelts back in would help your cause loads… as would putting the standard dials back in.

Just trying to be helpful and looking at the positives… worth more than £5k in parts. Have WBAC actually appraised it/seen it in the metal?

I'm interested, I just need to sell my car first! I'll be trying to get it up for sale in the coming weeks so if anyone's after a 2003 3.0i with 150k miles let me know!

I would want the standard gear stick and the fire extinguisher removed as others have said. Have you still got the stock exhaust?

I have removed the fire extinguisher over lunch, so that's done. I have the original M knob in the garage but..

The shifter isn't an easy job, I would need to drop the exhaust and fit the original linkage back from the underside of the car, as this uses it's own linkage and bushings. I would rather sell it fitted unless it is an absolute deal breaker.

I don't haver the original exhaust, it is in a shed in Ireland if you want to go collect it
