How are the body panels going to be fixed to the existing structure ?
Is it a nuts and bolts job or resin and matting?

The body is 'stuck' onto purpose made brackets on the Z3. So the body is 'glued' to the brackets and all the brackets are adjustable so the whole lot can be moved around to get the fit right (hopefully).
TBH there is still a lot I have no idea about.

I might be worth investigating as it might be a good way of filling in the knowledge gaps - there’s no point in trying to reinvent the wheel.
As this forum has demonstrated, members are always happy to help with problems and it might very well be a good source of practical help for you on this project.

Doing it the wrong way might devalue the finished product.

Not anymore. All gone over to facebook where it has split into multiple 'groups'. I find facebook car groups useless in all honesty.
I do have a couple of very helpful people who are 'guiding' me through. So I am not completely alone, although sometimes it feels like it!

They did, it was built under the heritage body shell and called the RV8. The MGC was a roadster, but a straight 6.

You are quite right 1992-5. Now that I remind myself, there was a MG GT V8, which was a coupe. The MGC in fact came in coupe (GT) and roadster variants. But there was no V8 roadster until the RV8.

I think the V8 Coupes were around from 1973 to 1976, although Roadsters had been getting fitted with Rover V8s since 1970 by Ken Costello.

Probably remember because I always fancied a V8 MGB GT or a 3 litre Capri, but I couldn't insure either of them at 20.

No not an SD1 - I couldn't afford those in 1979!

I have only owned one Rover; it was a 1985 SD1 3500 'VP'. 1996, so was absolutely knackered. Brown aswell. Had it for all of 2 weeks. Bloody awful thing. How they managed to get so little power out of a Buick V8 while using so much fuel is still one of life's mysteries.

Edit...no I had another Rover...a 1991 820SLi with a full bodykit. It was quite nice actually; lasted about two months. I can't even remember selling it but I must have cos it ain't here.

A little update....
For anybody with half a brain and thinking of building a 'kit car', or 'replica'.....DON'T!

It's a (very expensive) world of bodging and 'that will do'. I am not wired like that...I like things to be perfect (as far as is humanly possible) or not at all.
I have quickly come to the realisation this world is not for me.

But I am so heavily invested financially that I have no choice but to power on, so it is now becoming a chore, already. Oh great!

I have an issue with paying hundreds of pounds for some cheap Chinese badly casted door handles which are, at best, shite and actuate on the BMW door locks with 1mm braided steel cable!

I cannot wait to see the quality of my Vietnamese £2,000 bumpers when they arrive next week!

I could have bought everything from Temu and saved myself £20k!

Strip the interior so you have room to lay down, line it with silk, add wood panelling on the outside and finish with some nice brass fittings.
By the time you finish it you’ll only need it for one thing
