Noob Brake issue

Post by mikeyg1977 » Wed Jan 03, 2024 1:38 pm

Hi and thank you for allowing me to join,

E85 2008 2.0l z4,
Brakes feels spongy,
Been to a local garage who do all the work on my cars, also family friends so I trust them however I’m confused on where I go next, and as you are the experts here, I hope you can help.

they have fully bled the brakes,
replaced a calliper,
Replaced the master cylinder,

Brake still feel spongy and have advised the ABS Module needs replacing as it was difficult for them to bleed the brakes,

But reading here the ABS pump needs to run to get the air out.

Would the Indy garage have known this ?

I have no warning lights on the car at all,

Should I go back and get them to plug it in and run the pump and then bleed the brakes again ?

Or go for a new ABS module ?

Any help greatly appreicated, and if I have posted in the wrong area, I apologise.

Thanks mike

Just to update,

I’m in Plymouth, and have just spoken to the garage the car went to and they have said they would have done the ABS cycle programme to bleed them.

Thanks again

They seem to have done all the stuff I would think to do off the top of my head. Definitely sounds like you have air somewhere in the brake lines. I would first advise checking if your pads/rotors are glazed from overheating. Very unlikely with street driving, but it's the easiest thing to check.
