Wish I'd seen the post earlier, I'm still struggling to find one at a reasonable price... I think because these seem to be in demand right now ebay prices have gone through the roof!
I would definitely go down the repair route. Crashdata receive very good online reviews and charge considerably less than a replacement unit.

I'm almost certain that you'll still be able to drive without the unit and clear all the codes later. Although maybe someone could confirm this for sure?
