Post by Rudy » Thu Feb 01, 2024 11:59 am

If you've spotted or have a unicorn roaming around in the form of a Z4 3.5i/3.5is with a manual transmission, please share!

Looking for a low mileage as clean as possible example.I promise I'll treat it with the love and care it deserves.

I’m based in London and Bournemouth.

Hi Rudy,

Of the 35 cars only the 35i is available with a manual transmission, all 35is are DCT.

Best of luck in your quest. :driving:

Thanks for the luck and the info, will be tricky, hoping once the sun comes out there will be more on the market but for now it appears like I’ll need that luck 🤠

I would consider the 3.5is but I’d much prefer the manual.

I have one of those unicorns you are looking for and thinking about selling this year due to lack of use. We bought a camper van last year so most good weather weekends are spent away in that. It’s 63 reg, 39K miles, white, I drive, full BMW dealer history, BMW warranty, garaged every night and in fantastic condition . Unfortunately nowhere near you as I live in Wakefield. If you want more info let me know

I have a 2011 35i Manual, and I am in London (west, TW7). No intention to sell but happy to show you the car if you want one to root around a bit, see spec, etc. Some level of detail here - viewtopic.php?t=144224

Of all Z4s ive owned that E89 is one of the few that i would happily buy back ( the other 2 being Si E86s )
The car had multiple forum outings / euro trips with myself before handing it over to forum chum Stuartt , unfortunately he was shunted at traffic lights resulting in the cat status

My thread relating to the car here

viewtopic.php?t=100298

To the OP , definitely worth holding out for a manual twin turbo , I found the DCT flawed & underwhelming by comparison to the ZF auto or 6spd manual .

I haven’t tried the DCT but it feels slightly like a compromise, wouldn’t know what to do with my left leg! I guess a Z4 test drive is never a wasted time but I think I’d regret getting that unless there wasn’t another option. I will have an e89 z4 and I’m “willing to die on that hill”. :D

John that does sound perfect at first glance, would love more info/extras,spec/pictures if you could please. Also what you’d look to get for it. I could wait for it a couple of months, I appreciate it might be hard to say goodbye to your baby but you did get me excited for a moment.

I might take you up on that offer Calum, thanks it’s very kind! I’m in North but could drive down to have a look around and would love to hear your experience.

Don’t get hung up on a 35is Rudy, if you want a manual car the 35i in reality is only a few little cosmetic touches down along with a few bhp, but you can add pretty much all those bits to a 35i if that’s what you want. The manual is pretty good, nice slick change and not too rubbery, as for power, there’s plenty, but easily upped if you want. Great cars, and that white one above looks a beauty. :driving:

Hi Cheesy19. I think Rudy wants to test drive one first which is a bit more local to him before he commits to travel far to view mine or any potential car. I’ll keep you informed with what he is doing regarding my car.
