Super sprint exhaust

Post by zmaster007 » Fri Feb 09, 2024 3:00 pm

I've had a few exhausts:
Remus - great daily driver exhaust. Bit of bass, not too much extra volume, no extra rasp
Stromung - loud, bassy, droney. Need to raise voices inside the car to talk at motorway speeds
Eisenmann race - loud, bassy idle but not bassy throughout like the Stromung. Minimal drone. Best looking tips

Aaron done my airbox dyno setup
In your opinion was it worth it.
Could you feel the extra power. I know the noise can sometimes make you feel it is quicker (but dyno)

Definitely feel the increase in power and the torque response.
Will quite happily pull from 30mph in 6th with no hesitation.
Aside from the induction note the improvement in drivability was worth the cost.

I had the stromung back boxes fitted and it completely drowned out the noise from the eventuri.

They were ok but preferred the induction sound so wouldn’t have bought them had I known.

Totally disagree regarding the stomung backboxes. They only drone below 2k revs . If your constantly sitting at this rev range when cruising then your in the wrong gear . I also have an eventuri and you can definitely still hear it above the exhaust note

So I'm going to assume you like the Sromung rear boxes.
It's hard to get any true understanding of the sounds just by listing to them on You Tube.
Out of interest where did you get them from.

I think half the issue here is that one man's perfect exhaust is another man's headache.

Difficult as it is, I'd suggest the only way you'll know for sure is by trying to get passenger rides in cars with the exhaust you want.

That has to be the best way to find out.

I managed to get a passenger ride in a low mileage MC with OE suspension at the National meet last year that left me in no doubt how stiff my H & R coil-overs were, and much more suited to smooth tracks than pot-holed UK roads!

An M meet for owners to try different set-ups would be brilliant. Probably a challenge to organise though given there aren't too many Ms about and they are scattered all over the UK.
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Bought them direct from stromung website . Seemed the cheapest place at the time .
I like them . They seem like a decent middle ground between stock and something that's too loud. Also reasonably priced / well made . I Only really drive the car at weekends or to shows , and enjoy the extra noise over stock . I don't find it to intrusive when cruising , and when you push on they sound good . Not sure if id want them on a daily . But then again I probably wouldn't want to be driving the m everyday anyway .

Exhaust sound is defo a personal thing , some may love what others hate . Only real way to know is to experience 1st hand . Almost impossible to tell from videos .
