We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Make sure you really clean it off really well, because it will just attract dust and grit and wear the surface of the leather.
It cannot get past the surface finish and into the leather, so there's no "conditioning" going to happen, but it does smell nice.

My experience - but on soft, pale-coloured 'Nappa' leathers in a 911 and the Z4 - is the opposite. Gliptone Leather Conditioner has worked really well.SV8Predator wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2024 10:05 pm Make sure you really clean it off really well, because it will just attract dust and grit and wear the surface of the leather.

It not only conditions the leather, but also makes it easy to wipe dirt off. That said, I've not tried it on the harder 'Dakota'-type leathers.
p.s. One mistake I've seen people make is to try too hard to 'clean before condition'. It's the 'thorough' thing to do. But, in do that, they remove the original factory finish and then can't replace it.

A general diluted APC is a good way to clean the seats. Get the vac out first and get as much surface dirt off that you can, then clean the seats either with a cleaner or APC. This is the most important step, you dont want to be dragging crap around on the seat or soaking it and having it stick to the seat. A diluted APC/most cleaners wont remove the coating on the seat.
This in most cases if the seat looking in good condition is enough to ensure longevity. You can treat the seat, use some leather paint, and if the coating is totally shot you can use a conditioner but a good cleaning routine is the best way to maintain them without having to dump a load of conditioner on the seat.

I used Scratch doctor leather colourant matched to the BMW colour and it made my seats look like new. The worn section disappeared completely after 4 coats. I used a cut up washing up sponge not a brush to apply it. Definitely leave 15 minutes between coats.
Gliptone leather conditioner i's good stuff which I've used before so I'll be using it to keep the seats in good condition.
