E89 seat removal

Post by bigwinn » Tue Feb 13, 2024 8:33 am

Hi all

A few questions/assumptions on my behalf before undertaking my first e89 seat removal:

- the roof can be opened and left open safely with the battery off with no issues?
- the battery off procedure of disconnect for 20 mins same as e85 applies no issues?
- what Torx size are the 4 seat bolts

Thanks in advance!

Stuart

So open roof, roof in boot, how do you disconnect battery?

So disconnect battery, wait, unbolt and unplug seat, reconnect battery, open roof, lift out seat.
Don't forget with battery disconnected tie rag around one latch ring to stop boot dropping and latching.

Isn’t there room to disconnect the battery with the roof stored? Remove the boot floor panel first before storing roof?

Good luck with it Stuart and be careful with that car. If you find any money under the seats it's mine BTW! :D

I don't remember disconnecting battery when i removed the seat.
It threw a stored code on my car.

You would be amazed Ian. When I took the seats out of my Z3 I found £17, 3 shillings and threepence. It is quite an old car TBF. :)

Oh...and a ration book!
