Wave to a Zed

Post by TONYMOR » Wed Feb 14, 2024 9:09 pm

I’ve noticed very few other Zeds wave or flash lights to me. On another forum the idea of acknowledging other zeds has been posted with positive comments.
When I’m driving my classic mk1 Mx5 most everyone in an Mx5 of any year and model will wave. Does anyone else think this should be introduced?

Wave to a Zed

Post by Ed Doe » Wed Feb 14, 2024 9:12 pm

There's literally a whole thread devoted to it; the 'spotted' thread

On the rare occasion I'm out and about in mine I always wave or thumbs up other zedders but yeah I'd say it's probably a 50/50 response, more common for coupes to acknowledge than roadies weirdly

Usually, by the time you have spotted it is a Z4 coming towards you, they have passed!

Wave to a Zed

I'm like Ed, I always wave if I notice in time but don't do better than 50/50 response either. I find E85/86 owners more likely to respond than E89s.

But sadly I seem to spot far more Z4s when I'm in my 3 Series, so there's no point waving.

Same here, I always spot particularly nice ones when I'm on my touring too. I still give a thumbs up but I'm sure I look like a plonker

Sorry but the vast majority of E89 and G29 Z4s I see are driven by birds, admittedly MILFs or GILFs. There are not many of those who give a shite about other 'similar' cars IMO or experience. And in 2024 if you go waving at random women, you could be locked up for sexual harassment.

Maybe we need to get some big stickers made up! "My other car is a Z4".

Pondy has a valid point there though IME!

Wave to a Zed

Post by MikeyH » Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:52 pm

When I first got mine I waved but stopped because hardly anyone waved back. Back in the day when I had my MG’s everyone in an MG flashed or waved
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.
