Z4 wanted forTop Gear type challenge!

Post by Wayo11 » Wed Feb 14, 2024 10:16 pm

Hi there
A few friends and I have set ourselves a Top Gear type challenge to drive to the Belgian F1 and back in July 2024. We have set a budget of £2k and I fancy a Z4 convertible if I can get one for close to that price. It will need to have a MOT until at least August, get me there and back and then be sold for close to the purchase price when I return (unless I fall in love with it :D)
Any advice please? Never owned 1 but always loved the look of them!
TIA
Mark

Hi and welcome to the forum.

That sounds like a fun idea. You ought to be able to find an early one for that, although it's unlikely to be perfect!

Personally I'd stick to the 6 cylinder models as they tend to be less troublesome than the 4s and you get a better soundtrack! Plus the straight 6 is one of the Z4s unique features.

Anyway good luck with your search.
Coupes because stunning!

Get yourself an early 2.5. They’re the sweet spot for value, and plenty around. If you don’t expect perfection and aren’t afraid of higher mileage, you should be able to find an honest example.

We are hoping to add a couple of stops, making it a proper TG challenge. Maybe a track day if we can find one!

If you look here you will see my build thread, it’s a great wee z that I’m fixing everything on- don’t intend to make a profit, only demand from the boss was not to lose money!

It will have a freshly painted front end when it’s done.
Happy to pm pics.

Looks lovely - you are clearly more talented than I am when it comes to cars. I wouldn’t know where to start! Is it a Cat S/N? I am definitely interested and will keep an eye on your progress

Cat N. Just needs a new front panel and bumper. I’ve spent my time so far sorting all the other wee jobs to make sure it’s mint. Fun wee project I’ll be sad to see go, but will be glad it goes to a good keeper.
