e85 Z4 gearbox not going into gear

hey i have a 2004 e85 z4 it is the 2.5L and is auto with the ZF box i have an issue where it won’t go into any gear i can select park,drive and reverse ETC and it will show up on my dash but nothing changes i also have hooked up my computer and no codes will show at all so im kinda stumped and i hope some of you guys may be able to point me in the right direction.

Never had the issue and no experience of it but sounds to me like something underneath has broken or disconnected.

You really want to lift the car up and with someone pulling the gear selector inside the car, you look underneath the car to see what's moving and what isn't.

Don't hurt yourself, if you can't lift the car safely then you'll have to get it recovered to a garage.

Looking at this picture of a z4 gearbox selector unit you may not see anything from underneath the car. Maybe one of the cables has snapped?

If that cable has snapped it would feel very loose between each selection. No resistance between P and N etc
