New Car Paint Protection
I’m collecting a new car on Friday and want to have the paint protected properly. I have been offered a 5 year protection coat for the paintwork and faces of the wheels plus a coating for the windscreen and rear screen.total cost £840. Is this reasonable? Any observations?

By the dealer? Then no way, I always use professional detailers only and tell the dealer to not touch the paint, not even wash it pre delivery

The quote is from a local detailer. Like you I wouldn’t let the dealer loose on it. They don’t even bother to ask me at the dealers now..

Is it your car or a company car? I would PPF any car I would buy now straight away.

Only a novice but for a new car that should need very little correction, sounds a bit expensive to me

Afraid that new cars need quite a bit actually. The corrections required on my cars have been quite extensive and they have all been new.

With the limited knowledge I have it is difficult to tell whether it is a good deal or not. That is the problem.

It all depends on the work the 'detailer' does and the products used. The car should be de-contaminated with a product then an assessment should be made on whether it needs a light machine polish or more. Good ceramic coatings cost between £80 and £150. There are cheaper ones promising 5-year protection but be wary. If good products are used and you have had good feedback on the detailer, then £840 is a very good price.
I used to have two boys and a girl. Now I have two Men and a Woman.

Had my new G29 indepently ceramic coated for around £750. Took 3 days and has 5 years protection. Your price seems about right.

Thanks for the comments. Car now booked in for treatment with Crystal Serum Ultra. Don’t laugh, knowing how long I keep cars. But it has a nine year guarantee.

FWIW i have the contract with 2 OPCS delivering gtechniq platinum ( and hopefully a ferrari dealer soon if i can get my foot in the door)
edit ; This wasn't really a sales pitch more of a , what id expect from your detailer.... i could see your way to far away Glad your happy buddy, any Gtechniq detailer will be offering the same standards as gtechniq are extremely picky whos in the network and applying products, particularly ULTRA. Good to see more people shunning the AWFUL dealer network who literally rob people blind by doing a piss poor job.
