Just got home, parked up, looked down and realised I'd forgotten it has a Sport button!! Too much time in my 2.2.
So something else to check and another excuse for a run out.

Well it appears that we have the classic issue with the brushes sticking in the ABS pump.
I do have a spare one here.
Opinions sought on the best approach: swap the whole thing which means coding the new ECU to the car, swap the pump over and retain the original ECU, or is it fairly straightforward to replace the brushes.
I'm accepting that I will have to go through the bleed process with INPA or similar.

This is not something I have done before so any assistance would be gratefully received.

A little bit more progress, though not without cost sadly.
Frustratingly it transpires that the spare abs unit that was in the boot is not a compatible part number.
After some discussion with Mark, I have removed the faulty unit from the car and it is in a box ready for ECU Testing to collect in the morning.
Luckily going through their eBay page has kept us still just within the original budget for the car.
I have to say yet again, very impressed with ECU Testing's service. Within half an hour of completing the transaction they had called me and arranged to send a DHL label via email.
The unit will be collected tomorrow and all being well I am hoping to have it back in the car and working by next weekend at the latest.

Just to give myself a target, I have booked an MOT for 16th April!!

Yup, I'd never heard of those check valves before. I cleaned and refitted, but you do need to confirm they are still working as non-return valves and not staying open.

Never bled one before though.
I've opened a separate 'Help' thread in the hope someone can do me a simple 'how to', which can then be saved for future reference.

Hi Janis. Hope you're well?
As you can see, the car has been sulking from missing you, but we have come to an agreement.
It has a little moan to begin with but then goes like a bat out of hell!
Which is why i need to make sure it can stop!

I do envy you driving people around the Alps for a living.

Today I have refitted the ABS module. That only took about 30 minutes, including putting the arch liner back in.
Then on to the bleeding process, which I was slightly nervous about, having never done it before.
Well, it all went swimmingly (after a couple of operator error moments)

I will shortly produce a 'How To' for bleeding the ABS system using INPA. It was actually much simpler than I imagined.

Having discovered my Gunson's Eezibleed looked a little decrepit (it is over 30 years old), I decided to invest in a new pressure bleeder.

The car is now sitting waiting for it's MOT next Tuesday.
No more annoying abs lights, phew!

The cost of the MOT will just creep us over the £2k budget by about a tenner.
Outstanding issues are the hunting on start up, which we've decided can be lived with as once it settles it works nicely.
The aircon needs a regas.
The spare key battery is dead.

Just keeping everything crossed for the MOT now.

I've the same pressure bleeder and its really good.
I renewed the brakes last week and even after bleeding, still feel they are a bit spongey. When I open each bleed nipple, fluid is coming straight out.
I do wonder if there's air at the ABS module though.
Is there a way of doing all this without INPA?

Not sure there is tbh. You need software of some sort that will operate the pump.
